In the past, Negra flamenco guitars were made primarily with a dark rosewood, usually Indian or Brazilian rosewood, rather than with a light-colored Spanish cypress, which is commonly found on traditional blanca guitars. Although a rosewood Negra can possess an attractive sound, it sometimes lacks the acoustic power, brilliance, and percussive nature that passionate flamenco guitarists often dream of.
